My husband is our village BBQ King. Whether it is the summer fete, beer festival, bonfire night or Halloween party - you will find him in his stripy apron behind the BBQ. So it has been for the past 20 odd years - no one would dare try to take his crown.
So when I was offered the opportunity to test these silicone gloves there was no question as to who would do the testing!
The gloves arrived promptly packed in a nice zip-lock bag, beautiful bright gloves with a cute heart design in raised bumps. I put them on and thought they were pretty large - hubby said 'hmm, a bit tight across the knuckles'. Having said that, he is a 5xl sized builder with hands the size of shovels so for 99.9% of people they will be fine!
This evening was the village preschool Halloween party - the perfect opportunity to put the gloves to the test. No namby-pamby gas BBQ for my BBQ king, a good old fashioned barrel split in two filled with burning charcoal, topped with a grill and burgers cooked on cast iron discs. Trust me, these get really hot!
The verdict? As you can see from the photos, no problem at all in picking up burning hot cast iron discs.
