We live in a tiny, rural village which has no streetlights. Perfect for star-gazing as there is no light pollution but not so good for finding you way to the front door when staggering home from the village pub.
I was delghted, therefore, when I was given the opportunity to test this motion sensor light.
Theoretically, we do already have a motion sensor light at the corner of the garage, if you are 7 foot tall and dance around waving your hands in the air it might just think about coming on. But only once you have already fallen down the step.
This light is so much better. It is solar powered so can positioned anywhere, so long as it can get sufficient light during the day to power up the LED lights. Perfectly positioned on the wall next to the front door this light sees you coming (before you fall down the step) and lights your way to the front door, lighting up the lock and the floor as you drunkenly drop your keys.
Just the job!

Silicone BBQ. and Oven Gloves

My husband is our village BBQ King. Whether it is the summer fete, beer festival, bonfire night or Halloween party - you will find him in his stripy apron behind the BBQ. So it has been for the past 20 odd years - no one would dare try to take his crown.
So when I was offered the opportunity to test these silicone gloves there was no question as to who would do the testing!
The gloves arrived promptly packed in a nice zip-lock bag, beautiful bright gloves with a cute heart design in raised bumps. I put them on and thought they were  pretty large - hubby said 'hmm, a bit tight across the knuckles'. Having said that, he is a 5xl sized builder with hands the size of shovels so for 99.9% of people they will be fine!
This evening was the village preschool Halloween party - the perfect opportunity to put the gloves to the test. No namby-pamby gas BBQ for my BBQ king, a good old fashioned barrel split in two filled with burning charcoal, topped with a grill and burgers cooked on cast iron discs. Trust me, these get really hot!
The verdict? As you can see from the photos, no problem at all in picking up burning hot cast iron discs.

Urbane Man Beard Oil

Urbane Man Beard Oil arrived sealed in a plastic bag. The clear plastic bottle has simple instructions on the front to apply 2 or more drops to a damp beard concentrating on full beard coverage.
The label on the back has more detailed information about the contents and properties of the oil together with safety information.
The bottle lid contains a glass dropper for easy application. The oil is pleasant smelling without smelling too perfumed or feminine. It doesn't leave too much of an oily residue.
My husband has a fairly substantial mature beard and applied it to his beard and massaged it in after his morning shower.
After use the hair feels soft to the touch and looks well groomed and healthy. Although he didn't previously suffer from any skin conditions his skin feels healthy and itch free since using this oil.

SIMBR Neck and Shoulder Massager

The SIMBR neck and shoulder massager arrived beautifully packaged in a smart branded box with a carry handle. Perfect for storing and transporting it in and also smart enough for it to make an attractive gift.
It is a smart brown and beige imitation leather with a netted section holding the massage balls in place. The massager is quite weighty and very well made.
The package includes not only a standard power lead but also a car cigarette lighter lead so it can but used when away from home. Great for those achy mornings when camping!
The control panel has an on/off button, a reverse button, a speed button and a heat on/off button.
When first switched on the heat comes on automatically. Although it should perhaps be called 'warm' rather than heat as it really doesn't get very hot at all. You can see when the heat is on as the massaging section glows red.
The massager is designed to be draped around the neck or shoulders and your hands placed inside the loops to hold it in place and pull down to increase the intensity of the massage as required.
This really is a very firm massage, almost painful until you get used to it! I like the reverse button as it makes the massage balls change direction which slightly changes the places it reaches. The faster speed is a bit much for me to be honest but I guess that is all according to personal taste.
Although this is marketed as a neck and shoulder massager I have lower back pain so slipped the massager down, wrapping the arms around my waist and leant against it on the chair - it worked wonders!
Although the price may start first seem a little expensive, just consider the cost of one or two professional massages and suddenly you will see what a bargain this is!

Mesh Beach Bag

I purchased this bag to carry buckets and spades when visiting the beach with my grandson.
The bag arrived neatly packaged in a cellophane bag. The bag folds neatly into an integral pocket with a press stud fastening and a loop carry handle.
Once unfolded the bag is surprisingly large. It has quite long carry handles which make it easy to carry on the shoulder. The base of the bag has additional webbing to add strength. The little storage pocket is conveniently pisitioned by the top of the bag so that when open it can be used as a poppered purse.
The mesh is perfect to allow excess sand to fall out when carrying so that more sand falls out on the way home from the beach and less is carried all the way home.

Knee Support Sleeve

I ordered this knee support as I suffer from age related pain in my right knee. I have a very physically demanding job as a preschool teacher. I need to be able to jump around and get down on to my knees a lot and by the end of the day my knee is quite painful.
The support sleeve arrived beautifully packaged in a smart card sleeve. Inside the box it was in a protective cellophane bag. A leaflet with usage instructions and warranty information is also enclosed.
The fabric is strong and thick with plenty of elasticity. The side ribs provide support to prevent damaging sideways movement.
The quality is evident. The manufacturers branding label is smart and there is also a label detailing the fabric content and care information which is very useful.
A found the sleeve comfortable to wear and very supportive, even when skipping around the playground! It is quite thick so does feel quite warm to wear which may be a little uncomfortable in the height of summer, but most of the time that won't be a problem.

This neat 3 point charger arrived beautifully packaged in a smart box so would make a great gift.
It can adapt from a US to a UK plug simply by sliding in the UK plug so really handy when travelling.
It has 3 charging ports so you can charge three devices at a time.
It has intelligent technology to automatically detect the compatibility of devices to optimise the USB power. It will automatically stop charging devices when they are fully charged.
It is so handy to be able to use just one socket instead of having wires trailing all over the place.

LED Book Light

This is a lovely, useful little book light.
It arrived nicely packaged in a cardboard box together with a charging cable and plug.
The base has a strong clip to attach either to the book or any other surface but is equally stable just stood on its base.
It is switched on by simply clicking the button on the head. One click gives a soft light, perfectly bright enough to read in bed but not so bright that it disturbs a sleeping partner beside you. A second click makes the light brighter, but not so bright that it hurts your eyes.
I love the fact that the light does not have to be plugged in during use as this makes it much more useful. The USB cable is also a nice feature as I am able to recharge the light from my portable power pack if away from home and am not forced to find an electric socket.
The snake neck allows you to angle the lamp easily to your requirements.
The small size makes the light useful too if you need a light in a confined area as the neck and head will fit in narrow spaces.
A lovely well-made light which will be really useful.

The bracelets are a coil design so they will fit all sizes from the smallest child to the largest adult.
Perfect for holidays in the sun but equally useful for walking in the woods locally. We have a problem with horseflies here in rural Hampshire and a horsefly bite can be really painful. Anything to keep them away whilst enjoying a walk in the country is very much welcomed.

Herb and Spice Grinder

This is a lovely little herb and spice grinder.
As a non-smoker I use it for culinary purposes and it grinds up herbs and spices nice and finely to add maximum flavour to your dish. It works well with both fresh and dried leaves and even does a good job of mincing garlic.
The grinder arrives beautifully presented in a little card box and the quality is immediately evident. It is very attractive and has a good weight to it. The cutters are sharp and solidly made. The sections fit together well and operate smoothly. There is even a tiny scraper tool included to ensure you can get out every scrap of herb.

Christmas Card Set

A nice Christmas set but perhaps a little overpriced.
There are 20 cards, 5 each of 4 designs. The designs are very traditional, but not particularly exciting. Inside the cards it simply says Merry Christmas so no great thought has gone into that. The cards are reasonable quality, but not outstanding. The envelopes are very eye catching, a shiny embossed red, but they are not gummed so if posting will need to be glued or taped.
The gift tags are simple and rustic.
The drinks mats are a lovely thick felt but probably not very practical as any spillages will quickly soak in and may well stain the surfaces they are meant to be protecting.
I did receive a voucher for this set, I am not sure I would buy them at full price though.

This is a lovely little Remembrance Day poppy lapel pin. Red and white enamel on a silver metal background.
Every year I buy a paper poppy - I shall continue to donate to support veterans - but the paper poppies curl and look shabby within the first day of wear. This lovely little pin is discrete but carries the remembrance message in a much neater way.
